Brockville and Area Community Foundation: Annual General Meeting

Brockville, Ontario (May 21, 2010) - The Board of Directors of the Brockville and Area Community Foundation (BACF) is pleased to announce that the date for the Foundation's Annual General Meeting (AGM) has been set for Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010. The BACF AGM will be held at the Brockville Yacht Club from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. All members of the general public are welcome to attend.

The business of the Foundation conducted in the 12 months since the 2009 Annual General Meeting will be reviewed. As well, a new slate of Directors for the Brockville and Area Community Foundation Board of Directors will be voted into office. There will be five vacancies on the Board of Directors and applications are now being taken. If you are interested in applying for the position of BACF Board Director, please contact the Executive Director at 613.498.9970 or ed@bcfdn.ca for a Board Director's application package. Applications close on May 28th, 2010.

There are eleven seats available at the Board of Directors' leadership table. The current members of the BACF Board of Directors are: John Fischl - Chair; Rose Lalonde - Vice Chair; Leslee Jones Dingman - Secretary; Charles Massey; Timothy Ross; Duncan Fraser; Wendy Cuthbert; and Richard Boadway. Each Director can serve a maximum of three consecutive two year terms. Rose Lalonde and Leslee Jones-Dingman are stepping down after serving their full terms, leaving five vacancies to be filled at the AGM.

The current Chair of the BACF Board of Directors, John Fischl commented on the upcoming AGM: "We see our Annual General Meeting as a time to reflect on the developments that have taken place in one year's time, elect a new leadership team of Board Directors, set goals for the next 12 months, and celebrate our contributions to the charities and organizations that our grants have supported in 2009."

The BACF Annual General Meeting will feature a very special guest speaker, Ms. Barbara McInnes, President and CEO of the Ottawa Community Foundation. Ms. McInnes will be speaking on how community foundations serve all people and how the Brockville and Area Community Foundation can best serve our Brockville and area communities. Barbara McInnes is a valued speaker whose experience, knowledge, and expertise in developing community foundations is much sought after. David Dargie, Executive Director of the BACF stated: "We are excited that Barbara McInnes is able to join us for our AGM. She will bring an encouraging message to our Board of Directors and the audience at our Annual General Meeting, as the Brockville and Area Community Foundation builds on the past 36 years of achievement and constructs a strategic plan for the future that will best serve the communities in which we live."
