What is The HOPE Fund
The HOPE Fund is a permanent fund within the Brockville and Area Community Foundation, established in 2004.
The capital (donated amount) of the fund remains untouched. The annual income earned on the fund is distributed to assist people in Leeds and Grenville with travel costs for medical reasons when those costs would otherwise prevent them from getting the treatment.
What types of things qualify for funding?
Travel related expenses such as gas, train tickets, meals and accommodation. An amount will be calculated and the grant will be awarded prior to travel.
Do I have to pay the money back
No, but we request that you submit receipts upon return to verify the expenses.
Can I get money for the medical treatment I need?
No, the HOPE Fund is for travel related costs only.
How much money will I receive?
The HOPE Fund is a new and growing fund, and money is very limited. The review committee will determine how much to grant. A grant may be offered for only a portion of the anticipated expenses.
Who decides if I get any funding?
A committee, which includes medical professionals, will assess the application and award the grant based on financial need and urgency of medical attention required. Since funding is limited, we will have to refuse many otherwise eligible applications.
When would I get my money?
We will try to respond within 48 hours of receiving your application.
Am I eligible to apply
You are eligible to apply if all of the following criteria are met:
- You are a resident of Leeds and Grenville,
- You have been referred by a health professional to undergo a medical treatment or procedure that is not available locally,
- You have personal financial limitations that would hinder you from going,
- You have completed and submitted an application giving us permission to review your situation and contact your health professional.

You can fax, email, mail, or deliver the completed application to the Brockville and Area Community Foundation office.
